The most striking remark about Nadia Savchenko’s attempted coup d’état was made by Yulia Tymoshenko, Batkivshchyna party leader. ‘Nadia came home after living through colossal stress, suffering, hunger, fear. She should receive psychological rehabilitation. Nadia needs at least one year to recover her health. I have enormous pity for her as a human being. She just turned out in a place she doesn’t belong,’ Tymoshenko said.
When you listen to such words, kind and full of care and genuine empathy, about poor Nadia who due to ‘colossal stress, suffering, huger, fear’ intended to murder 400,000 people you cannot but wonder what a tender person should Yulia Tymoshenko be. She must have a big heart like Mother Theresa!
‘I need 400,000,’ Savchenko says on the recording presented by Yuriy Lutsenko, the General Prosecutor. Volodymyr Ruban, her accomplice, asks: ‘400,000 what? Money?’ ‘What money, Vova? Deaths,’ Savchenko replies.
Only poor and unfortunate ones could have plans like that, isn’t it? We should pay more attention to the caring words of Yulia Volodymyrivna and treat strictly those who should have foreseen such scenario of events. When I hear such moving words from Mrs. Tymoshenko, I burst with anger at those who displayed such unthinkable negligence.
Who is the person Tymoshenko appeals to? Who caused deterioration of Nadia’s conditions? Who led to her breakdown? Who, instead of recovering Nadia’s health, cynically used former Kremlin’s hostage in her own sordid interests? Who brought her into politics?
Whoa! Tymoshenko was the one who did this. So, is she appealing to herself?
When Nadia Savchenko returned to Ukraine after being released from captivity, Batkivshchyna leader met her at the airport and greeted her with kind words hinting that once Nadia started working everyone would get what they deserved.
Tymoshenko said then that every nation needed hope in hard times. ‘Hope for the better,’ Batkivshchyna leader was cited saying, ‘and hope that someone will be fighting with devotion and without double standards for each of us.’
‘And you know that there are people such as Nadia. Without compromises, without double standards, she stands by her people, stands by her nation! You see that she has returned in good shape, with confidence and strong will. She knows what to do!’ Tymoshenko stated.
She also refuted that Kremlin made any concessions.
‘Nothing like that happened! Nadia broke them with her sheer force and invincibility. Today, she is a symbol of Ukraine’s independence. Although this girl is tender, her power is a symbol of Ukraine and our hope,’ Tymoshenko added.
Yulia Tymoshenko wished that Nadia Savchenko ‘completed this path of growth and defense of our people and state with similar strength and confidence as she freed herself from the Russian prison.’
As we can see, Tymoshenko’s words right after Savchenko’s release differs radically from what she says today. Then, she supported her actions with every possible means. We know now what her actions led to. Fortunately, she was stopped.
Even earlier, when the Ukrainian hostage was on a hunger strike in the Russian prison, Tymoshenko showed not only inventiveness but also, unexpectedly for her, modesty and conceded the first place in Batkivshchyna party list for the parliamentary elections to Nadia. In this way, Ukrainian heroine that enjoyed universal popular love at that time gave Yulia and co. several additional percent of votes.
In late May 2016, Nadia returned to Ukraine after being released from captivity. In mid-December of that year, the first number of Batkivshchyna electoral party list was excluded from the parliamentary faction for ‘actions that are incompatible with programmatic foundations and principles of the party and its faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.’
Why were once-cult figure punished so severely? As it turned out, she flew secretly to Minsk and, with the help of the Russia’s Federal Security Service, met Oleksandr Zakharchenko and Ihor Plotnytskyi, leaders of ‘DNR’ and ‘LNR’ criminal organizations. The bandits talked to Savchenko supposedly about exchange of prisoners. This was made behind the back of the Trilateral Contact Group.
Obviously, by acting like a person out of her mind, Savchenko deserved such punishment. We should also add to this her numerous sympathetic statements towards Donbas militants.
That said, one thing remains unclear. If Savchenko was excluded from the faction for meeting separatist scum, why is Tymoshenko still in the faction? As it turned out, Batkivshchyna leader also talked to Zakharchenko, the chief Donetsk separatist. Savchenko told that on TV.
‘When I went to meet Zakharchenko and Plotnytskyi the second time to talk about releasing prisoners (as in 2014 when we could release and exchange captives), I learned that Yulia Volodymyrivna also talked to Zakharchenko. But she tried to hide this and at the same time blamed me for contacting Zakharchenko. What did Yulia Volodymyrivna chat with Zakharchenko about? Of course, only about Ukraine. She wanted the whole Donbas to support her. This hypocrisy that Batkivshchyna uses all the time struck me like a thunderbolt,’ Savchenko told.
What a hypocrisy indeed. For her treason, Tymoshenko should have joined Savchenko in her prison sell. But poor Nadia is behind the bars, while Yulia Volodymyrivna, acting as if nothing happened, is sitting in the Verkhovna Rada and have no passing thoughts about prison.
Is there no justice worth fighting for?
